12.00 Fairyhouse, Kavanaghs corner 1pt Each Way (10/1)

Should come on for first run of the season in ballinrobe and this step up in trip will help aswell

12.30 Fairyhouse, Kildorrery (5/1), 3 pts win

Ted Walsh’s charge picked up the pieces a bit when third in a grade 2 behind castle grace paddy and A plus yard the last day nothing like that in this and Conor Mc namara taking 5lbs off leaves him with a good light weight in this

2.46 Fairyhouse, jake Peter (6/1), 1.5 pts Each Way

Pat Flynns horses have hit a bit of form on the flat lately this lad ran well in the good handicap in that sphere latest in aas and there could be more to come from him over hurdles.

12:00 Fairyhouse, Braeside, 3pts win (11/4)

Gordon Elliott’s chaser has performed with credit in three beginners chases, notably finishing third to subsequent Grade 2 winner Pencilfulloflead at Galway. His win over hurdles came at this course last season and he looks well treated now off a mark of 129, with scope to improve again on just his fourth chase start

12:30 Fairyhouse, Kildorrery 1.5pts e/w (5/1)

This Ted Walsh-trained seven-year-old has an excellent record over this course and distance having twice finished fourth in the Dan Moore Memorial. He’s off a similar mark today and warmed up for this with an excellent third in a Grade 2 chase at Navan.

15:00 Newbury, Mister Malarkey 1pt e/w

14/1

Colin Tizzard’s chaser ran well in this race last season when sixth and runs off the exact same mark this year. He was a huge drifter on his seasonal debut, on account of the ground turning soft, but still ran to finish sixth to Regal Encore. On his preferred good ground today, he can run a big one today.

2.18 Doncaster – Minella Trump (7/2) – 4 Pts Win

A really exciting novice chase prospect for the Donald McCain yard. After winning a PtP in Ireland – he was a progressive novice hurdler last year and made an encouraging Chase Debut at Carlisle. I’d expect him to come on plenty for that and is taken to get off the mark over fences at the second time of asking.

1.01 Fairyhouse – Queens Brook (3/1) – 4 Pts Win

A likeable mare with a fine attitude, I’m looking forward to seeing her over a longer trip and with a bit more dig under foot. Having won a heavy ground bumper at Gowran in a hack, she backed that up with a huge 3rd in the Champion Bumper. She was beaten last time at Down Royal but conditions were not in her favor that Day and with more give underfoot, I think she should be bang there.

3.00 Newbury – Secret Investor (8/1) 2 Pt each-way

Talented 8yo having his second run back after wind surgery. Good ground is key to this lad and his best performance last season came at Newbury when finishing a close second to 168 rated Native River in the Denman Chase. Lot’s to be optimistic about stepping up past 3m over fences for the first time.

3.15 Newcastle – Pym (10/3) 2 Pt Win
His novice chase season started off nicely with two wins including victory over Imperial Aura at Cheltenham in December. He has won on soft ground before but a better surface clearly plays to his strengths. Victory over If The Cap Fits when worse off at the weights on seasonal reappearance represents decent form. Looks like a horse progressing.

2.25 Newbury – Sebastopol (10/1) 1 Pt each-way
Not seen since winning the Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh in February. Point to point winner on good ground and who seems to enjoy good conditions. Maries Rock looks the obvious danger but with 9 going to post, Tom Lacey’s 6yo represents decent each way value.

2.18 Doncaster 4 points Corranny 15/4

0-7 under rules but has not done much wrong, second in novice hurdles at Ludlow (2m5f, soft) and on this course (2m3f, good to soft) last season; chasing may bring out the best in him (his dam is a half-sister to Hennessy winner Trabolgan), and he’s much respected on his debut over fences.

12.40 Newbury 2 points Kalooki 13/8

Progressed into smart novice hurdler last season (second in Grade 2) and set to do even better over fences based on his comfortable all-the-way success in 2m6f course maiden (good) on his first attempt 23 days ago, throwing in a couple of hairy leaps along the way but essentially jumping well; leading player with improvement on the cards.

2.25 Newbury, Botox Has 2 pt win 4/1

Ridden clear in 4yo hurdle at Cheltenham (2m, good) five weeks ago, beating The Pink’n by 4l and taking record to 3-5; ran well in a Grade 2 contest three outings back; progressing well and has sound claims, for all that he’s conceding weight all round on handicap debut.

3.00 Newbury, Copperhead 12/1, 4 pts win
Trainer starting to hit form again and we could start to see him at his best here. With Colin Tizzard having a good record in the race over the last few years with Native River and Sizing Tennessee.
He was disappointing last time at Wetherby but connections have since said he wasn’t quite right and is said to be in great form at home. With this race in mind for some time a turnaround on recent form is likely to be expected

12:15 Bangor Pink Legend 10/3, 2 pt Each Way
Horse seems to come into his own after a prolonged break. Ground won’t be a problem. The fav is not as vulnerable as I’d like when tipping a horse against one so I’ll be going each way this time. Hoping for a place but might go one better.
