The crunch game between Ireland and Wales is just 24 hours away, to help contain the excitement we asked our twitter followers to vote for their favourite Irish goal of the millennium. Irish soccer fans turned up in their droves to cast their vote and the results are now in. Embark on a trip down memory lane and watch our favourite Irish goals to the theme tune of The Titanic.

#3 Shane Long v Germany 2015
That cracking Shane Long strike that guaranteed us a play-off game against Bosnia in October 2015. It’s not often you beat the world champions but what’s rare is beautiful. Shane Long is on fire, your defence is terrified.
#2 Robbie Brady v Italy 2016
Amazing drama last summer in Lille where Brady headed Ireland into the last 16 of the Euro’s. The entire nation expressed a combination of relief, disbelief and hysterical joy. We all look forward to re-watching this epic moment on Reeling in The Years.
#1 Robbie Keane v Germany 2002
The 2002 World Cup in Japan & South Korea really were the glory days. Robbie Keene’s late equalising goal past Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn was something special. It’s often labelled as ‘one of those moments you never forget where you were’. Most of our younger readers were gathered around to watch on the big national school TV on wheels that had been rolled down the length of the corridor, but in our ecstatic celebrations we were all in the moment with the Irish entourage in Japan.
